Hoover High School Lockdown– North Canton, Ohio — Hoover High School in North Canton was placed into a soft lockdown Wednesday afternoon following a threatening phone call, law enforcement and district officials confirmed.
According to messages sent to families and released by North Canton City Schools, the alert was issued around 12:48 p.m. local time as the district responded “out of an abundance of caution.” During the lockdown, students and staff remained inside buildings while authorities investigated the nature of the threat.
North Canton Police Department units were dispatched to the campus to assess the situation. Early reports described the incident as precautionary, with no confirmed weapon or attacker identified. The lockdown was lifted later in the afternoon after police determined the threat did not pose an immediate danger, and normal school dismissal procedures resumed.
Officials stressed that the safety of students and staff was the district’s top priority and thanked families for their cooperation. They also indicated that further updates would be provided once investigators complete their review of the call’s origin and intent.
