Lincoln Tunnel Accident Today: Crash Blocks Lanes at Lincoln Tunnel, Major Delays Reported

Lincoln Tunnel Accident Today Hudson County, New Jersey and New York City — A traffic crash at the Lincoln Tunnel this morning disrupted the commute into Manhattan as multiple lanes were blocked by a collision in the tunnel’s center tube, according to the state Department of Transportation. The incident occurred just before 7 a.m., sparking heavy delays for motorists travelling toward New York City.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to clear the roadway, with the Port Authority confirming shortly after 7:30 a.m. that the crash had been cleared; however, significant backups remained as vehicles continued to filter through the reduced number of open lanes. Commuters reported slow-moving traffic stretching back from the tunnel entrance through the Hoboken and Weehawken approaches, with drivers advised to expect longer than usual travel times.

NJ Transit officials also noted that bus services heading into Manhattan faced delays of around 15 minutes during the peak of the disruption, as the accident temporarily impeded regular traffic flow and commuter routes.

Authorities did not immediately release details on whether any injuries were reported or what vehicles were involved, and the cause of the crash remains under review as part of the ongoing traffic investigation. Commuters were encouraged to use alternate routes where possible and allow extra time for travel as traffic patterns gradually return to normal.

State and local transportation officials continue to monitor traffic conditions in the Hudson County area and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
